The light in the dark
down by the river
in the night
the bushes were mostly black
and the water a
long winding wash of silver
and what flowed
between and around
us there
glowed
in the darkness
we rushed home
along the road
where the deer walked
warily
and the flowers
beneath their hooves
suddenly shone
yellow
in the night
the bushes were mostly black
and the water a
long winding wash of silver
and what flowed
between and around
us there
glowed
in the darkness
we rushed home
along the road
where the deer walked
warily
and the flowers
beneath their hooves
suddenly shone
yellow

love this
Sounds like the flow of love/passion lights even the darkest night. This flows like "a long winding wash of silver". Love it!!
Phosphorescent wonderfulness.
(BTW, thanks for coming by and leaving lovely pithy spot-on comments. Always nice to "see" you!)
the last eight lines kinda reminded me of "princess mononoke" :).. great piece :)..
A lovely sense of light and shadow
It's the small, fragile moments of illumination that... say it all.
I like this one alot!
Floots, thank you. That's a gratifying response.
Pat, thank you for appreciating the metaphor and flow!
Lori, I could have described your comments the same way! Always interesting to see what you've been working on.
Guile, nice to see you here! "Princess Mononoke" — yes, I can see why! Thanks.
Sue, thanks!

RDL, I'm glad you do! Thanks.
MB,
A crystalline image. This one tells a long story with a wonderful economy of words.
SO beautiful. Sorry I've gone missing - it has been a rough re-entry, but i'm catching up.
Can't wait to read what you've written in my absence!
Firehawk, yes it does. Thank you for your insight.
