Summer fires

the clapboard siding glows yellow
in the slow morning sun

above the roofline the thin sky
is restless grey with smoke

a sudden rush of doves
from out of the arching white sycamore

whirling pale on pale on pale
as if they decided this was the day

this was the moment to seize life

Really love this one MB.

It builds and builds and then the abruptness of the ending just took my breath away and that last line echoed in my head (and vision).

thanks, xx

Don't think I could see this any clearer in a photograph. I think you came very close to touching with this poem!!

I like the pale colors -- the yellow light, the grey smoke, the doves an unstated grey, the white sycamore, the "pale on pale on pale," and the thinness of the lines matching that of the sky.

great poem! I like the pale on pale on pale. I love the doves entering the scene and I love that they decided to seize life. Very hopeful. Carries me away with the doves with a cozy feeling of peace.

It swells and bursts forth.

Slow light, Terry Pratchetts world has slow light.

This is so beautiful - from the clapboard siding glowing yellow to the pale on pale of the doves and its message to seize the moment.
