In 3/4

like a dance floor
it waits

birds skid by
laughing

doesn't matter how
you get here

if you have the guts
to try

the wind blew through
yesterday

blew the clouds
all away

left me and the sky
breathless

me and the sky
breathless

You make me want to sing and waltz.

Ok, not that unusual, but always welcome.

Amazing, this morning the sky here as almost exactly the same here! What a way to greet the day, eh!?

M-L, sounds like it must have jump-started your day!

Mermaid, not me, that's for sure.

Anonyrhymer, thank you for introducing me to the song! You nailed it —
It laughs, it sings, the world is in rhyme
Swinging to three-quarter time

Robin Andrea, there is when we look well.

Wheeeeeeee! All those windy swirls made me dizzy!

Thanks for the lovely, looping, loping dance!

I love repeated phrases; they soothe and reassure me. And also, in this poem, they underline the beauty that makes for the breathlessness. Beautiful. And thank you for your rose comment.

you and your words, your metaphors and similes, the images you paint with syllables and sound or photographs - it all leaves me breathless quite often!

Good one! Lovely metaphor for the sky, and rhythm and voice going along with it.

That repetition at the end works so well here. It does take the breath away, and leaves a lovely silence at the end. Cheers, PaL

I needed this poem today. I really like the part about having the guts to try. Just endeavoring to try something gives me much encouragment and peace.

very nice.
