Like scotch & chocolate

the long slow notes of a song
plead with the wind's pulse
stay, stay a while with me and let's
drink a toast to the evening's light
just a sip, while it slips away

a rosy hued yellow glow
resting on gauzy pillows,
the melting light rides the wind
rimmed with subtle bitters,
the taste of swaying dark pines

now the sun rolls beyond the horizon,
the wind picks up
night melts the shapes of the trees
dark and sweet into its river
pooled with the scents of the day

and we breathe it in,
the final perfume
