ohhhh, i love hafiz and the music of his words. i learned that the poems were usually recited and sung instead of written. i am reading the subject tonight is love, translated by ladinsky. i smile as i move through this small little jewel and then begin it again...like singing a song i love.
Thanks, all. The poppies make me swoon! I found them in my garden this morning! And as one who play tambourine a fair amount, I really respond to this poem.
such poppies! amazing! and the image of a tangerine tamborine singing and chinging and dancing on the thigh... oh my! (i think there's a hole in my tamborine)
Snowsparkle... have you been playing that tambourine too hard? ;-) Even a tambourine with a hole can still jingle, my friend, and I think yours certainly does!
Robin, I imagine that your garden is looking marvelous these days!

Yes this is lovely. Like all beautiful things though there is an edge of pain to it ... or maybe that's just me at the moment.
Hafiz makes me a little lovesick and I swoon... :) lovely quote, and the addition of those poppies, fabuloso!

Beautiful poppies. Ours just started blooming the other day as well. Such vibrant color. The poem is lovely. The whole universe against my thigh...
Alan, isn't it incredible music?
