Thinking
the scent that gathers
in the kitchen air
the feel of cream
across my lips
the bittersweet taste
of mocha on my tongue
I could drink
a cup of you
in the kitchen air
the feel of cream
across my lips
the bittersweet taste
of mocha on my tongue
I could drink
a cup of you

It must be summer. Between "Like That" and this poem... I don't know, is it getting hot in here?
Sounds like you're in love, love. :)
yummy - guess I will go see what is available down in the kitchen :)
:-)
mmmmm....
Michelle, thanks.
Dale, it's a hot beverage when you think about it.
Brenda, in love with love as always, love. ;-)
Endment, I recommend it!
Leslee and Gracie, thanks for your comments.
this reminds me of one of my favorite Joni Mitchell songs with the refrain: "you are in my blood like holy wine. you're so bitter, but you're sweet. oh, i could drink a case of you, and still i'd be on my feet, i would still be on my feet."
thanks for the reminder and the accompaniment as i sip my first morning cup of cafe au lait!
Snowsparkle, I did a doubletake while reading my own poem immediately after writing it because that very song came to mind... and I wondered for a moment if I'd written down her words! I had to look up the lyrics to get them straight. Savor your morning cup, my friend!
MB, I'm a sucker for good love poems, and this certainly hooked me!!
"I could drink
a cup of you "
J'adore !!!Splendide !
Like the ambiguity of 'you'.
Pat, thanks for stopping by. I'm glad you enjoyed the poem.
Lee, you are funny. Thanks.
Jean, je suis heureuse que ce poeme vous plait tellement.
Mermaid, thank you.
ditto snowsparkle about Joni, my favourite songstress and poetess and my favourite song of hers and, of her songs, my favourite line!
'I am in your blood like holy wine' - she is in yours (clearly) and mine and we are in hers and...well, the rest is a bit corny so i won't say it because it has all been said before, (and can never be said enough) but i'm sure you know what i mean by eternal truths.
This is so soulful. I really love it. "I could drink a cup of you" is genius. I think it says it all. Thanks so very much for this!
Ah, Ruth, thank you. I do understand what you mean.
Frankie, thanks for your kind words. It's wonderful to see you here again.
