Chuck, it sounds like you had a marvelous day on the river — good for you! The water I was on was surprisingly warm. Out over the deepest parts it was opaque, being sea. But towards shore it was actually quite clear. The starfish photo above is an example of that.
Leslee, being in a kayak puts one so low into the water that one's perspective really changes. I'm sure my experience of this was different than had I been in a boat or even a canoe! Almost down to the waterline.
photo and words: absolutely breathtaking! it seems your vacation has opened up a new vein in the motherlode. is it enough to say "thank you"? i think not, but i'm at a loss.

Wish I were THERE.
(But some days I suppose I wish I were HERE.)
Fine haiku, a nice way to start the day.
Dale, thank you.
Sky, this is Desolation Sound, east of Vancouver Island. Not that far from you, really, you know...
Jean, so were you, you know.
Lori, I often wish I could be in two places at once. Thanks.

Anne, thanks for your welcome!
Today I swam into the depths of a very cold river...I could see clearly 30 feet below.
The water you were paddling over looks cold and opaque.
Stunning picture and poem.
Wow, this is so beautiful. And to be kayaking in it - wow!!

It's magically appropriate that this haiku has 17 comments... Oops!
