An owl's feather:
"Be patient with everyone,
but above all with yourself.
I mean do not be disheartened by your imperfections,
but always rise up with fresh courage.
How are we to be patient in dealing with our neighbor's faults
if we are impatient in dealing with our own?
He who is fretted by his own failings will not correct them.
All profitable correction comes from a calm, peaceful mind."
— St. Francis de Sales

If only we could teach ourselves before we embark on the journey to change the world...
Needed that today.
I think it is liberating to relieve yourself of the burden of judging others. It makes it easier not to judge yourself.
It's wonderful how these things appear before us when we need to hear them. Of course, you chose the quote. That makes you part of the magic of my hearing it when I needed it. Thankyou, moose.
Something I need to be reminded of frequently. If not daily. Thanks for posting it.
Yes, thank you for reminding me of this quotation, Moose. How easy it is to forget!
mermaid, I think I'm teaching myself this all the time -- at least, I'm continually trying to learn it!
amy, yes, I think you are right. That's a place to begin. I think it works the other way, too.
zhoenw, garnet, patry, mary -- yes, yes, I posted it because I needed the reminder also!
I like to read random posts - this one really hit the spot for me today. I had never sever it before. It is quiet lovely and so true.
