Gratitude

I'll be pretty scarce over the holiday weekend. I'm looking forward to gratefully indulging in friendship, love, fine food, lots of sleep and long walks.

Baking pies with pumpkin and pecans, making my favorite cranberry sauce, and some dish of rooty origin (yet to be determined, yes, I know, I'd better decide soon).

Playing with the dog, reading with my child, reading on my own, seeing some sun — enough of this fog!

Playing music and singing.

Sleeping in (did I mention that?).

And maybe I'll get around to writing a poem. Or maybe not.

My great appreciation to those of you who keep me company here and elsewhere in webland. I'll see you next week.

Moose, your warm and subversive spirit enriches all who visit this space. Who knows? Maybe Thanksgiving will inspire one of your delicious poems about food.

Cheers, Moose! I hope it was fun.

When I dragged myself from bed late on Thanksgiving, gleeful with the prospect of takeout with which we'd stocked the fridge the night before, I announced: "Rejoice and be slothful, for dinner has already been cooked." Or something like that.

Good quote. :)

Garnet, Jean, RDL, I had a little more fun and a little less rest than I expected, but it was all good. Thanks for your good wishes! It's good to be back.

Sara, I think you earned your sloth after your retail maelstrom! I'm glad to know you got some rest. Our food was all home cooked - but certainly not all by me (not on a weekend I'm planning to sleep in) - so I was plenty slothful in my own way.

And plenty of fun, yes. Good friends, good food, good wine, good fun. And it snowed. If I were to do it again - more MAKING of music and more sleep. Oh yeah, and one more day added to the weekend. But who's complaining? Really, not me!
