Heat wave

dizzy from lack of sleep,
sipping coffee in the warm air
of morning, its steam drifting
up before the ragged grass,

tired eyes move slowly to
track a raven's shadow
from the high reaches of a
sycamore into still air

drooping leaves of the appletree
sigh from last night's heat
and turn again into the sun's
broadening, white brilliance

We're all wilting in it's brillance. Blooming in the brillance of this poem!!

Yes, you capture the oppressive heat. We also droop like the appletree leaves, but we can come in out of the light. Although there is no respite.

We are all the leaves of that apple tree. A very nice placement of words.

I hope it cools down for you, in your spot, me, I love the heat, feeling like I flow into the day, that I'm alive with the rhythms of life around me. The cold I find separating and that I am a rigid figure moving in the wind over the snow. Let warmth reign! (Sorry, got carried away :)

Though the heat has mitigated for a few days, your words evoke it beautifully!

May your eyes find rest this weekend!

You can even appreciate the sun in this? You've reminded me that all things are for a purpose, sometimes even beyond our understanding.

No. Ca was 112 degrees yesterday!!!

Nice capturing of the mood and feeling, morning after a hot, sleepless night. I like this very much.
