Pick up
pick up this wind
carry it in your hand
if you can
mischief sings
a little song behind
my ear
what heat burns
in the thick
of the sky
what question shines
in the blink
of an eye
what song sings
to the beat
to the rhythm
to the jump
to the thump
of a heart
all the time
all the time
all the time
carry it in your hand
if you can
mischief sings
a little song behind
my ear
what heat burns
in the thick
of the sky
what question shines
in the blink
of an eye
what song sings
to the beat
to the rhythm
to the jump
to the thump
of a heart
all the time
all the time
all the time

fab rhythm. I can imagine this will be rattling round my head tomorrow :)
I am already echoing the "all the time" ...
xx
Love it!! Felt like I could sing it!!
I particularly liked the second stanza. Good job.
Percussive treat! Liking the short playful rhythms like sticks on wood logs...
Ah, I could hear you singing this with a tambourine! Lovely!
picked up, carried, sung - fun! :)
These would be phenomenal lyrics. I could feel my heart thumping along in time. Lovely!

Oh, nice!
MB,
Here I am, head hanging low, a bad blogger who doesn't come around as much as he should...
Nevertheless, it's a happy, bouncy little piece. Reminds me of "The Windup" from Keith Jarrett's "Belonging" (if you're familiar).
I appreciate this rhythm, and the seemingly carefree tone. It's something I have a difficult time writing in poetry.
Anyway, hope you're well, and hope that I have more time to come over in the future.

I listen, I learn.
Thanks so much, all! Your comments are very much appreciated.
Firehawk, thanks for drawing the connection to "The Windup"!
